Update September 2024

Fellow Wing Point G & CC Members, “A society grows great when old people plant trees whose shade they know they shall never sit in.” I think the essence of this Greek Proverb is exemplified here at the club. As we in club leadership roles do our very best to balance the myriad of wants and needs at our club during this historic time, I am inspired by those that have fervently provided their support knowing that they may not benefit personally from the fruits of those efforts. A heartfelt “thank you”. That is the love and care that has enabled our club to thrive over the past 120+ years – beginning with early Wing Point residents playing around in an apple orchard, to a modest 9-hole course and basic facilities, to one of the finest 18-hole hidden gems in the Pacific Northwest (soon with facilities to match)!

As we count down the days of another fantastic summer on Bainbridge Island, we would like to celebrate the amazing memories created at Wing Point G & CC and prepare for the months to come. In addition to recapping the highlights and providing some exciting updates, we’d like to welcome the 13 new Proprietary Members who joined in August, along with the 6 additional Proprietary Members expected in early September! This is unprecedented compared to other years and speaks volumes about our club and where we are going!

Since our previous communication in mid-July, we can say that we’re thrilled with how the Facilities Improvement Project is progressing. Both the Public Participation Meeting and the first Design Review Board (DRB) meeting with the City of Bainbridge Island went well. This is encouraging as we continue to fine tune the construction documents with our architect, Charlie Wenzlau, this fall. In the coming months, the pace of various impact studies will increase as we check the necessary boxes and work towards contractor selection (summer 2025) and the beginning of construction scheduled to begin in fall 2025.

With that, we would like to thank the Proprietary Members who have completed the assessment payment survey. Your selected upfront investment amount is due on November 1 and monthly payment plan (if applicable) will be reflected in your November billing statement. For those Proprietary Members who have yet to complete the survey, please do so here. For those who have not responded by September 30, the minimum $5,000 upfront investment will be due on November 1 and the corresponding monthly payment plan will be reflected in your November billing statement.

As always, please do not hesitate to provide feedback via suggestions@wingpointgolf.com or reach out directly to myself, Jeff D’Amico, or any of the committee members and Trustees.

Also, save the date for the Annual Meeting on Thursday, October 24!
